Student Drop Off and Pick Up Location Change Attention Parents and Guardians: Starting on Wednesday January 5, 2022 there will be a change in the student drop off and pick up location. Due to crowding at the front entrance and safety issues, students will no longer be dropped off or picked up in front of the school unless they are being signed in late (after 8:20 AM) or signed out early (before 3:30 PM) by a parent/approved pick-up person. For morning drop off and afternoon pick up, please enter through the first entrance of the teacher parking lot, pull all the way forward to the open gate, drop your student off and exit by the bus area. If there are no adults present, no students should be released from their vehicles. Student supervision begins daily at 8:00 AM. There should not be any students on campus prior to this time. All students should be dropped off by 8:20 AM. If your student is being dropped off after 8:20 AM they need to be walked into the front door and signed in by a parent with the front office staff. Debido al hacinamiento en la entrada principal y los problemas de seguridad, los estudiantes ya no serán dejados o recogidos frente a la escuela a menos que se registren tarde (después de las 8:20 am) o se levanten temprano (antes de las 3:30 pm) por un padre /o persona aprobada para recogerlo. Para dejar a los estudiantes en la mañana y recogerlos en la tarde, ingrese por la primera entrada del estacionamiento de maestros, avance hasta la puerta abierta, deje a su estudiante y salga por el área del autobús. Si no hay adultos presentes, ningún estudiante debe salir de sus vehículos. La supervisión de los estudiantes comienza todos los días a las 8 am. No debe haber ningún estudiante en la escuela antes de esta hora. Todos los estudiantes deben ser dejados a las 8:20 am. Our 2022 Teacher of the Year is Mrs. Marilyn Samson, our 8th grade Science Teacher and Department Chair. Mrs. Samson goes above and beyond basic expectations. She brings the subject matter alive for her students and provides solid learning experiences which her students will not forget. Her classroom is nothing short of exemplary. Mrs. Samson takes her assignment very seriously and is the ultimate example of professionalism. She is punctual, consistent, and fair. There is no doubt that she will represent Shanks proudly as Teacher of the Year. Our 2022 School Related Employee of the Year is Mrs. Rosa Villegas. Mrs. Villegas is the first face visitors see when they enter the front office at Shanks. She is the voice representing our school on the telephone when parents and others call, and she always manages with a kind and professional greeting. Mrs. Villegas goes beyond her assignment as well, aiding in language translation or anything else that is needed to make Shanks a better place to be. I could not be more proud of the representatives from Shanks this year and know fully that we will be represented well.
